Well I guess I haven't written in a while. I've been meaning to but time has been so tight lately. Things at work have really picked up. I'm seeing a lot more patients than I was before, and since we're down a couple counselors their work load has landed on us.

I've been doing a LOT of reading lately... several books a week. A lot more than I was doing before. It's become my favorite pass-time. Also watching TV shows on tvshack.net.

My mom and I Went up to Albuquerque (about 300 miles from here) for the weekend... and we were turning the street on a busy corner and the car died! At 10pm... we were kinda stressed. We were up there because I was going to meet up with the graduate school cluster I want to go for my Ph.D. program. I didn't get to attend but they were very nice and invited me to come back in May for their next cluster meeting. We'll see what happens.

This April Ryan and I are going to Florida for his sister's wedding. She's asked me to do her portraits :) So I'm excited to finally take a vacation. We're gonna be going for a week. I was trying to book us a date to go swimming with the dolphins... I hope it works out at Discovery Cove.

Well, hope everyone is doing well.

Is our president! This is truly a time of change. We've witnessed a piece of history.

Mccain is giving his concession speech. And I have a tear in my eye.

Is a blue state! Obama! :D

I got to the voting center with 12 minutes left. YES! :D I used to vote at a church and so I arrived at 6:40 and saw some boy scouts walking around and thought uh oh... looked at my voter registration card and saw I had to go to the rec center... I'm a dork ;) But I got there at 6:48. Alright!

My picture won! I was only allowed to submit 1 picture and they only allowed 100 entries. So my mother (who lives next to the fair grounds, as I live 80 miles away) waited an hour and a half in line to submit my picture on my behalf. So, we went yesterday to go vote for my picture and to drop my step-dad off some lunch, since they had to work for the Remote at the fair (they run a radio station). So I walked up and saw that my picture had placed! I won 3rd place Premium. So here is me posing in front of my NEW car, with my picture and it's ribbon :)
So, next, I just printed out the rules and regulations for the southern new mexico county fair, and am going to enter! You can enter up to 12 pictures in that one so I am going to be entering quite a bit, hopefully!

Wednesday I am leaving for my meditation retreat in the Santa Fe Mountains. I am going with the monistary that ryan and I were married in. It's a week long, with no cell phones, no computers, nothing! I am looking forward to having a week of quiet... no clients... no paperwork... just me and nature. They're allowing me to bring my camera so I am going to take a zillion pictures! I'm so excited. I'm hoping to take some good ones to place in the southern new mexico fair. I've got to pack tomorrow and Tuesday night. Since I don't have to be at upaya zen center until 5pm, I am going to go into work to finish up paperwork and see 2 of my regular clients, until noon, then head off :) I'll have so much to catch up on!! This retreat is also my "informal interview" for the Chaplaincy program to see if I'd fit the program to become a Buddhist Minister. I hope it goes well, but I am not anxious at all about it.

Oh! In other great news! I was accepted to have my student loans paid off by the New Mexico Commission on Higher Education! I'm so excited. It's been this saga for the past 4 months, apparently back in May I scored 54th place out of 250. Then they awarded 35 people the scholarship, and I became number 13. Then several people declined and some of them even died (O.o) and I was then number 6... well Susan from the office called me last week to congratulate me! I'm soo happy. My commitment to them is then to work in a rural community (where I work now) for 2 years. And they'll pay EVERYTHING. Now, this way, we are going to eliminate half of our debt by the time we move to Portland, OR. And with the thousands I am going to be saving from having to make monthly payments, I can pay more down on my car, so that will get paid quicker :) Oh man... life is going well :)

That's what's going on in my lil world. Hope you all are doing well :) I do check my friends page, but I really don't respond to many posts. This is because I only have 1.5-2 hours of "home time" a night so I really spend that eating dinner and talking with my husband, lol. So don't feel like I don't read them, cause I do!

Goodmorning everyone. Well it is Christmas Eve. And the news I got on Christmas Eve morning is that my long-time friend with whom I have lost contact with, has died... He was younger than me, ehhh must've been about 22 now. He was the half brother of my neighbors back in Torrance. A misguided kid as most are... but he was good and kind. He was in a car accident on the 22nd. :( I wish I were closer to the family... now the holidays will always be a difficult time for them as they will have this memory of Christmas Eve. I haven't seen Michael in probably 8 years...

I will pass on what my old Neighbor has said because even though she is 18 she is insightful into these things.

"i just want to remind everyone to remember whats REALLY important in life, especially at this time of year.

dont stress the small stuff
family is so important, its everything
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT HOLD GRUDGES.

you might never get the chance to say youre sorry or make things right.

live every day to the fullest and dont forget to tell the people you love how you really feel."

r.i.p. michael.

How have you guys been? I've been reading everyone's journals. I guess the majority of you are good and graduating high school, so congrats to all of you!

Married life is awesome... ryan and I are so happy. That isn't to say we don't have our problems and issues, but we both made such a good choice! He's the love of my life.

In other news, I've begun a diet... I've begun gaining weight again (I lost 75 lbs two years ago) and I've gained more than half of that back. So I'm on this low carb-high protien diet. We'll see. I've been on it for 3 days. I've been running for exercise and doing carmen electra's strip aerobics which I love. I wanted to loose the weight for the wedding but that didn't happen, now it's for future pregnancies... I want to be in good health for my baby, and have good eating habits by then!

Nothing else is really new. I've been looking at doctoral schools to attend in the upcoming years. Ryan is going to begin school for Welding, and that will take him 2 years. After that I plan to go for my Ph.D. I want to teach college SO bad!! I'm going to be applying to be a sociology teacher here at our local community college... all they require is a Masters which I have =) wish me luck! I've been job searching for a month here and nothing so far... so we'll see what comes up. I've got applications out and I hope to get some more interviews going.

What is everyone doing for the 4th of July? Ryan and I are going to see the Fabulous Thunderbirds. One of Ryan's favorite 70's band. They're playing for free! So we're going on a 4th of July date =)

Steve Irwin died =( Sting ray barb to the heart... what's sad is he's leaving behind two young children. I remember going to the movie theater to see his crock hunter movie... lmao. His death is sad and very unexpected. At least his children will have all his videos and movies to watch. I know that doesn't make up for the fact he isn't there, but there are some people who have never even seen what their father looks like (like me), and these children get to have hours and hours of videos.

Nothing else is really new. Still sick... gotta get my tooth pulled out this week... I have the week off of school because today is a holiday! (And I only go to school Monday's) so yay!

The new kitten is warming up to James. Right now his head is barried in jamey's belly and james is licking him. I hope he's not doing it just to see which part of kitty tastes better!

The Cheetah Girls are on Regis and Kelly and they are TOO annoying for words. Disney's gone downhill I swear.

That's all for now...

Hmm so I tried to update the other day (on my birthday) but I couldn't, so I will now.

My birthday was pretty neat! In the morning Ryan took a half day just to clean the house and make me breakfast. So he cooked me breakfast, and did the dishes, swpet, took the trash out, etc. Then he went to work and I went shopping! Then I went and spent the rest of the evening with Ryan at his auto shop he's working at. Then Ryan took me out to a steak dinner after. It was niiiice. Real quiet.

So then yesterday we had "Christmas" at my parent's house. Ryan really loved the record I got him. Stevie Wonder Songs in the Key of Life . And I also got him a new Colorado Rockie's hat (since his one now is from his exwife... lol) and my parents got us a PS2 and I got a us a few games. Mom also got me some kitchen stuff, pots, pans, a mixer, etc. We ate dinner and watched the movies Tron and Crash. Tron was funky! Even for disney. Anyway, it was nice.

So today has been spent playing Enter the Matrix and Mortal Kombat. It's pretty fun, LOL. I mostly just watch ryan play, I'm the back seat player I suppose. Been munching on Christmas leftovers.

That's all that's new. We're leaving for Santa Fe next week once ryan's check comes in from the University. YAY!
